World DBT Summit

🌍 What is the WDBTA Summit?
The WDBTA Summit is a true world-first: a continuous 24-hour global DBT experience bringing the international community together like never before.
Across one full day and night, you’ll gain exclusive access to:
- The latest DBT research — and what it means for your clinical practice
- Deep dive conversations with leading experts exploring core aspects of DBT theory and application
- A rich programme of interactive clinical workshops, led by world-renowned clinicians
- Powerful perspectives from service users and family members
- Opportunities to connect and network with colleagues across continents
- Insider updates from the WDBTA expert committees shaping the future of DBT
This isn’t just a conference — it’s a global DBT marathon.
🕒 When is it happening?
Because the Summit is a truly global, live 24-hour event, it follows a rolling schedule across time zones.
- New Zealand: Starts 6:00am, Thursday 29 October
- Europe: Starts early evening, Wednesday 28 October
- US / South America: Starts during the day, Wednesday 28 October
📅 No need to calculate the timing yourself — when you register, you’ll receive a calendar invite tailored to your location.
😴 Do I have to stay up all day and night?
Only if you want the full DBTathon experience!
Summit hosts Michaela Swales and Alec Miller are aiming to go the distance — but you don’t have to.
- Join live for as much (or as little) as suits you
- All sessions will be recorded, so you can catch up anytime
- Dip in, recharge your practice, and get a good night’s sleep too
👉 However you participate, you won’t miss out.
🧠 How is the Summit structured?
To maximise flexibility and impact, the 24 hours are divided into six dynamic 4-hour segments — each designed to give you a complete, energising experience.
Each segment includes:
- Mindfulness practice to ground and focus
- A Deep Dive session with a leading international expert
- A Research Update — featuring key studies selected by the WDBTA Research Committee, with clear clinical implications
- Lived experience perspectives from service users and families
- A short WDBTA committee update
- A choice of 4 interactive workshops
- 24 workshops across the Summit in total
- Delivered by clinicians known for bringing DBT to life
- A 30-minute global networking space
- Connect with colleagues worldwide
- Share learning across cultures and contexts
💡 This structure means you can join for just one 4-hour block and still leave with fresh insight, renewed energy, and practical skills — while accessing everything else later on demand. You can come and go as many times as you want: step in for 30 mins, come back two hours later, stay for three more and have your morning coffee with us the next day – it’s entirely up to you. You’ll have the full schedule in advance, so it’s your choice.
✨ How do I register?
